Daily Prompt: Sounds Right

This is clearly subjective, but some words really sound like the thing they describe (personal favorites: puffin; bulbous; fidgeting). Do you have an example of such a word (or, alternatively, of a word that sounds like the exact opposite of what it refers to)? What do you think creates this effect?


Big logs a-rumble, the bang of thunder!

They seem to resonate a sound like no other –

The thud of cannons, the slam of Thor’s hammer,

Boom!  – a reverberation they totally enamor.

Must be the B, must be the Os, the word exactly like the sound –

Or the way one says it, oh there it is, we’ll be drowned!

    I tried to read this, but just couldn’t manage it. Very pale letters against the black background. I don’t know if it’s my computer–just thought you’d like to know I had trouble. There are place where the white shows up clearly against the black, but not in the body of your post.
